1988 Dodgers Pennant

This is arguably the most improbable title in the Dodgers rich history, but it was certainly well-deserved as they needed to defeat the heavily favored Mets and A's on the way to the title.

It's one of the greatest images in Los Angeles Dodgers history; a hobbling kirk Gibson pumping his fist after winning Game 1 of the 1988 World Series in walk-off fashion. It was the signature moment in the Dodgers' improbable run to a championship. The "Miracle Men" relied on the dominant pitching of Orel Hershiser (59 scoreless innings, ring a bell?), Gibby's hitting, Sax's glove and the spirit and charisma of the "True Believer" Tommy Lasorda.  This team diverted the city's attention from what was taking place on the hardwood as they went on their memorable run in the summer of '88.
