Bless you Boys, indeed. The 1984 Detroit Tigers stormed out of the gate and led wire-to-wire on the way to a World Series Title. Local WDIV broadcaster Al Ackerman coined the catchphrase "Bless You Boys" and the name was so popular that Sparky Anderson used it for his book about the ‘84 season. The "Bless you Boys" became one of the most beloved teams in Motor City sports lore. Fans packed Tiger Stadium to watch Trammell, Chet, Lance, and Gibby complete one of the greatest seasons in baseball history.
