The White Sox acquired lefty pitcher Tommy John on Dec. 2, 1971, from the Los Angeles Dodgers for Dick Allen. John would spend seven years on the South Side of Chicago. His lone All-Star season was in 1968 when John was 10-5 with a 1.98 ERA in 25 starts. He pitched two-thirds of an inning in the Midsummer Classic.
