Because of bad knees, Andre Dawson really wanted to play for the Cubs -- and on their grass at Wrigley Field in an era when many teams still had turf. Dawson was paid a pittance in his first season in Chicago and led the NL with 49 home runs and 137 RBIs in 1987 and was the NL MVP even though the Cubs finished sixth in the NL East.
