New York, January 20, 2000 — Major League Baseball is marching into the new millennium with the leader in baseball cards, Topps, at its side. These two American traditions have once again united to bring you the ultimate trading card set that will have you see Major League Baseball in a whole new light...2000 Topps Chrome Baseball # 1.

Baseball fans and collectors eagerly anticipate every release of Topps Chrome brand. Each card showcases highly prized Chromium technology, brilliant color metallization and exciting photography. 2000 Topps Chrome Baseball combines these popular elements with additional features such as: comprehensive player selection, including highlight star Ivan Rodriguez, complete career statistics for each subject and Refractor cards.

2000 Topps Chrome Baseball consists of 239 base cards including noteworthy subset cards from the following categories: Prospects, Draft Picks, 20th Century's Best, Magic Moments and Season and Post Season Highlights that capture all of the magical moments of the 1999 baseball season.

Parallel Refractor versions of the base set and most inserts are also randomly inserted, adding to the thrill of collecting Chrome Baseball. The insert rate is 1:12 packs for the refractor set of the base cards.

Wildly entertaining insert cards capture all of the superstars of the 1999 season.

Mark McGwire '85 Rookie Reprint: Collectors shall clamor for this chromium reprint of slugger Mark McGwire's Team USA rookie card. Each card will feature a commemorative gold-foil stamp on the card front for the greatest home run hitter of our time. The insert rate is 1:32 packs. There is also a hobby-exclusive Refractor version, sequentially numbered to 70 and inserted 1:12,116 packs.

Topps Allegiance: This exciting insert featured exclusively in 2000 Chrome Baseball features twenty Major League Baseball superstars, including Derek Jeter and Cal Ripken, who have spent their entire career with one team. Inserted 1:16 packs, there is also a hobby-exclusive Refractor version available, sequentially numbered to 100 and inserted 1:424 packs.

Power Players: Twenty of the leading power hitters in Major League Baseball are featured in brilliant design. These cards of today's sluggers with stellar star power will jump right out of the park. Available in Refractors, the insert rate is 1:8 packs for the regular versions and 1:40 packs for the refractor versions.

All Topps National Team: Topps selects the 10 best players in the National League. Each of these ten cards will feature active players with comparisons of the greatest former players at their position. The card backs will include relevant information for five players from each position past and present. Each is also printed on silver foilboard with select metallization. Look for All Topps American League Team featured in 2000 Topps Chrome Baseball Series Two. Also available in Refractors, the insert rate is 1:32 packs; 1:160 packs for the refractors.

21st Century Topps: Ten players, including Alex Rodriguez and Nomar Garciaparra, are featured as their playing prowess will guide their respective ball clubs into the next millennium. This set is also available in collectible Refractor versions. The insert rate is 1:16 packs and 1:80 packs for the refractor versions.

2000 Topps Chrome Baseball Series # 1 will have collectors in a frenzy over these brilliant cards that capture all of the excitement of Major League Baseball. Scheduled availability is February 16th, with each pack containing 4 cards and selling for a S.R.P. of $3.00 per pack. A checklist sheet will be included in each box.
