| As this millennium draws to an end our December Flashback page pays tribute to man's first journey to the Moon in July 1969. The Cape, countdown, Saturn Boosters, ignition, liftoff, Columbia, lunar module, Sea Of Tranquility, Moon rocks, spashdown, Hornet, and quarantine were all part of the Apollo 11 vocabulary. Upon touchdown on the Moon on July 20th, Commander Neil Armstrong radioed back to Earth, "Houston. Tranquillity Base here. The Eagle has landed." "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," Armstrong declared as he descended Eagle's stairs to become the first human to set foot on another world. Topps commemorated the Apollo Program and historic Apollo 11 mission by issuing our 99 card Man On The Moon set in 1969.
