History

In August 1990, Saddam Hussein's forces overran Kuwait to "reclaim the lost province" for Iraq. President Bush headed an international coallition that called for Iraq's immediate withdrawal from Kuwait. Hussein promised "The Mother Of All Battles" if the coallition tried to force him from Kuwait. Operation Desert Shield evolved into the Desert Storm air war in January 1991, and the ground war lasted for 100 hours in February 1991. Scud missles, Apache helicopters, Republican Guards, patriot missiles, smart bombs, left-hook, stealth bombers, Abrams tanks, Highway Of Death, gas masks, oil fires, and yellow ribbons were all part of the Gulf War vocabulary. Legendary Topps staffer Len Brown coordinated with the Pentagon and Navy Department in order to publish our 3 Desert Storm Card Sets, issued in 1991.
