There can be no argument that the most successful three-year period of the Oakland A's franchise was from 1972-74. Those colorful teams -- both in their uniforms and stars' personalities -- were led by a young Reggie Jackson and Catfish Hunter and it was the only franchise in the 1970s to win three straight World Series.

Once more in '74. It started as a rally cry for the season, but the Oakland Athletics delivered on the promise and became one of the best teams of all-time by winning their third consecutive World Series Title. The Swingin A’s were the hottest thing in the Bay Area led by the hitting exploits of Reggie Jackson and Captain Sal Bando. Packed with some power bats, it was really the pitching that carried them to a title. Cy Young winner Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue were a formidable duo and the athletics had one of the best closers of all-time in Rollie Fingers to slam the door.
